Edward Simmons is a Managing Director and Partner at Simmons Investment Advisors. He is experienced in the creation of income-generating portfolios and family wealth transfer techniques. He also focuses on fixed income investments, analyzing and researching fixed income securities for clients.
As a former teacher and Headmaster of private secondary schools, Ed takes a holistic approach to providing investment advice and education by focusing on each client’s individual situation. Investment goals, risk tolerance, tax bracket and income needs are considered along with each client’s family situation, philanthropic plans and desire to provide for children and grandchildren.
Prior to HighTower, Ed served as the Senior Financial Consultant and First Vice President at Merrill Lynch.
Ed has been recognized as a top advisor by Barron’s in 2009 and 2010, and he brings a refined, mature approach investment advice.
Ed earned his Doctorate in Education from Harvard, and holds a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of New Hampshire and a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Economics from Wesleyan University. He holds the Series 7, 63 and 65 licenses.
Ed is an active athlete, and he currently serves on the board of several non-profit organizations, including Yarmouth Rowing Club and Maine Adaptive Sports and Recreation. He and his wife, Priscilla, live on Cousins Island in Yarmouth, Maine.
